I couldn't start off the first recipe of the year incomplete. Lately, school's been starting to get really busy so I didn't get a chance to shape the tuiles into pretty butterflies. Since I didn't want to go plain, I added sesame seeds seeds and spread the batter across the baking sheet. I think I may have spread the batter too thick, but they still ended up nice and crisp!
This month's challenge is brought to us by Karen of Bake My Day and Zorra of 1x umruehren bitte aka Kochtopf. They have chosen Tuiles from The Chocolate Book by Angélique Schmeink and Nougatine and Chocolate Tuiles from Michel Roux.

ReplyDeleteWell while I do LOVE me some SMBC, I rarely eat it. I prefer cupcakes and cake with minimal frosting. So I scrape all but a thin layer into the trash... or into Josh's mouth lol!
ReplyDeleteYeah I think with most SMBC recipes they are just so buttery tasting and not even enough sweetness to cut the taste of the butter. That's why I had to make my own recipe! :P
I don't know why buttermilk makes cakes so moist, because usually it's low or NO fat. Hmmmm.... google, here I come!
Great job on the tuiles! I made the sweet version but would like to try some savory variations soon.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your Tuiles!
ReplyDeleteThey look just perfect to me.
ReplyDeleteOoo, your tuiles are so elegant looking. I see that you and I were both thinking the same thing when it came to sesame seeds!!! I love the taste of sesame and it really shines in this recipe! Yeah!
