TWD: Chocolate Cream..tartless

creamchocolate

Yet another ramekinized version of TWD. I tweaked the recipe a little to cut the fat down by omitting the pie crust, the butter and substituted cocoa powder for chocolate. Strangely, when it comes to fillings, I can't add butter without having the thought that I'm eating a chunk of cold butter straight from the fridge...literally. I only made 1/4th of the recipe so I wouldn't end up with a bunch of whites or have to pressure my brother to help me finish it up..haha. My favourite part of this dessert was the pudding skin, which I scooped off and then handed my brother the rest. There was no pressuring this time!

Thanks to Kim of Scrumptious Photography for choosing this recipe, which can be found on her blog and here. Don't forget to visit the TWD Blogroll!

  1. I only tried this without the crust.... And just a little bit. The rest went of to work together with the crust :)

  3. I thought about doing this, too but I was just taken by the idea of a chocolate crust. It was pretty darn yummy. Looks great, Steph.

  4. Seems like everyone down-sized their tart. Maybe it's the impending bikini season looming on the horizon that's got us all thinking "too many calories"!

Anyway, I thought the filling was perfect on it's own. Good call!

  5. Looks great Steph and I like how you scaled it down size-wise and calorie-wise.

  6. I totally agree with the feeling to you are eating a stick of butter part!! And making mini recipes in ramekins is the best way to try something new without committing to the full on! Love it :)

  13. I want to make Dorie's chocolate and vanilla pudding...but the skin? Ewwwwwwwwwwwww. I liked your eating butter analogy - that's kind of how I feel when someone gives me coffee with light cream in it. Keep ramekinizing...I would make tarts more myself if they didn't have crusts. :)

  14. Hey, tartless, hee, hee. So, what does your brother do with the egg whites?

I guess you're not a big fan of Paula Deen Queen of the butter and deep fryer. I hope you haven't ruined things for me with your butter analogy. Nah, nope, still love me some butter. :)

As usual great jog adapting the recipe to your tastes. I'm still trying to get comfortable with it myself.

  17. My guys would go for this...a little bowl of pudding goodness? Yep, that would be a big hit around here...looks really decadent and lucious. I admire your willpower.

  19. Steph you are so smart to cut the recipe. I must rearrange my thinking to do just that as well. A savings of ones resources and calories for sure. Some of the recipes I find difficult to share after serving myself a slice. Cookies are much easier and less noticeable missing parts. he he
